Why is my website not ranking on Google’s Front Page?

Search Engine Optimisation is vital to any business and its online presence, if you want to get traffic to your website using keywords in your niche market.

    Why is it so important?

The vast majority of online users don’t click past the 1st page according to this research –  the Googles results page 1 gets a whopping 32.5% traffic whereas page 10 only gets 2.4%. So being on page 1 alone is pretty damn important.

Sometimes ranking number 1 on Google is not always possible for example if you are a tech shop, you will find it hard to rank for the word “laptop”! This will have a lot to do with your sites authority. You would be going against corporate businesses that have been around for 10 plus years! In fact, Moz have written a post on The 25 Absolute Most Difficult Keywords to Rank for (“laptop” happened to be one)

The web is getting larger and larger, in the first quarter of 2015 the internet grew to 294 million domain names – imagine how many have been added since! This means that popular, high-volume search words get even more competitive. As rubbish as this is for you and your business, it is great for the user! Google demands you give the users the best information as quick as possible. That is why Google ranks sites that have the domain authority, with link backs and great content! If you are a new business with a new domain name, then you have to show Google that your site is worth being ranked first!

So what are the key terms for your keywords? The keywords you rank for can fit into three categories:

    •  “Head” – Popular, highly competitive, and broad keywords. These are typically one or two term keywords, such as “Online Marketing”
    • “Torso” – These are basically what they sound like: slightly longer keywords that drive mid-level traffic volume with roughly mid-level keyword competition.
    • “Long Tail” – These are the longer, less popular keywords But easy to rank for!

    Here’s a few SEO tips:

    There are no shortcuts!

A lot of people do not realise that you will not be ranking number 1 of page 1 the first time you use utalise your keywords! SEO is a long term commitment that requires monthly updates, such as link backs, fresh content and more!

You need to set yourself a schedule of when you are going to be doing your SEO! For example, Monday, Wednesday and Fridays you can check your stats – you can see what is working for you and more importantly what isn’t working for you!

    Setting goals!

Once you have it in your head that there are no shortcuts and you must be in it for the long haul, you need some goals to hit! It is vital to be realistic with these goals, for example:

    1. It isn’t to triple your visitors; it is having visitors that convert!
    2. The goal isn’t getting on page 1 of Google in as few weeks as possible but generating targeted traffic to your website is!
    3. The goal is continuous improvement from one year to another! So you know that you are going to be better next year, and even bester the year after!

    Focusing on your keywords!

First and foremost you need to be concentrating on the keywords that make your business money!

Here is what qualifies as most profitable:
