Why Isn’t Anyone Coming or staying on My Website?

As a web design and development studio we know the importance of your online presence. You might be wondering why are people not visiting your site? Or if they are visiting they seem to be leaving straight away (this is referred to as the bounce rate)

What is the bounce rate? Well if you are using google analytics you can check your bounce rate on there! The bounce rate refers to the percentage of users who come to your website and leave without interacting with anything on the page they clicked or they leave without exploring the rest of your website

For example, if your average bounce rate 70% this means 7 out of 10 people are leaving your site without interacting.

Here are a few things that constitutes as a bounce back

    • Going back to the pervious page
    • Typing in a new URL into their web browser
    • Closing the tab/window
    • Clicking onto an external link

So why are people not coming to your website? There are a few reasons this could be happening for example,

    • Is your website mobile responsive?
    • Is your content targeting the correct audience?
    • Have you been using SEO?

    Is your website mobile responsive?

We have discussed this issue recently click here if you missed it.

A mobile responsive website is important if you want to rank in the first pages of Google’s search engine. If your website is not responsive you will not rank on the 1st few pages.

    Your Audience

Is the content you are producing aimed at your target audience? This may seem a silly notion but the content you create for a 16 year old would be different to the content you create for a 65 year old.

Try a bit of market research – ask your customers what sort of thing they would like you to do. What do they want to be informed about?

Check out your competitors – see what they are doing and do it better. If you like their website more than you like your own then you have a problem that needs to be addressed.
